The God Of All Comfort

A few moments after she had received Jesus a young woman told me It was s-o-o-o comfortable. No one had ever expressed it to me that way before. The young woman learned instantly what took me almost three decades to learn.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

When we do business with the Lord He comforts us. When one who has never done business with Him does so, He comforts them. I had never thought of the word comfort in connection with my salvation, but it is one of many words that fit salvation perfectly. Christians are comforted by the Lord the moment they become Christians and they are comforted thereafter every time they do business with the Lord. They are often comforted when in the presence of others in whom Christ dwells. No wonder we are often uncomfortable in the company of unbelievers. When we receive Him, He replaces discomfort with comfort. The Lord knows when it is best for us to be uncomfortable and He knows when it is best for us to be comfortable.

Jesus promised His followers that He would send them another Comforter. Jesus had been their Comforter while with them on earth. They were uncomfortable because they feared they might lose their Comforter. He not only promised them another Comforter but He told them it was expedient for them that He go away. It is a wonderful truth that all three members of the Godhead are sources of Comfort.

John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

The Lord deals uniquely with each individual He saves. I have heard many different descriptions of salvation. You can read some in this website www.bibletopicsandquestions.com. in an article entitled *Testimonies I have enjoyed.*
